As with the rest of the prequels to "The Last Scribe", I had a hard time putting this one down. R. Lee Walsh continues to amaze me. New, unexpected details are introduced that left me on the edge of my seat. Yet, in the way of truly great fiction, only enough was revealed to keep me reading and reading, desperately searching for the answers. If you've read fantasy before, you have probably been left wanting the perspective of different characters - the villains, the side-kicks, the under dogs. Well, if you are a reader of this series then you are in for a treat, as a completely new perspective is introduced. I am left wanting a full-length novel to be released even more so than I was after reading the other books. Thank you, Ms. Walsh.Product details

I do believe this is my favorite in the series. I sat down to read it for a short while, then set aside everything else I was going to do to continue reading it. If you've read any of my reviews, I'm loathe to provide detail, plot lines, characters, but share instead the reasons why I like the book. Suspenseful, filled with great characters, well-written, and the pace kept me reading (as already stated) till I got to the end. Look, the reason I don't like reviews that share all the other stuff is because that's giving things away. Read a book recently that had a critic's quote on the cover, "IF you liked Gone Girl, you'll love…." Well damn people, that blew the story out of the water. I knew from page one what was going on. Don't do that, but do pick this up. R. Lee Walsh, whoever you are sweet man, well, you're going to be around for a while and I can say "I read him first"
Ms. Walsh's character development and plot setting is fabulous! I can't wait for more books in the series!
